With the fire in the fireplace being reduced to ambers, all are sleeping, as I sit quietly in a quilt-draped recliner with the only light being provided by our Christmas tree. This is the moment that I find peace; all is calm, all is well. I remember, as a child, being able to hear the clicking from the lights as they blinked, and how the smell from a freshly cut tree would fill our home, the feel of the prickly needles, and the anticipation, hope, and love found with each wrapped present under the tree.
Tonight, each branch is weighted with memories from past Christmas’s. Warm, multi colored lights reflect, in my mind, the various personalities, events, and emotions I have experienced. While this Christmas will also become a memory, and have its own place reserved on future trees, I treasure tonight, while remembering the warmth my heart has received from many, throughout the years.
It is my wish, that you will experience the warmth, hope, love and joy of Christmas.
